When I decided I wanted to work in a bridal salon, my mother thought I was doomed to lead a single life. Because really, what kind of opportunities walk through our door!? But just as I was ready to accept my destiny as a perpetual single girl, fate stepped in unexpectedly, and I couldn't be happier about it :)
January 26th started out like any other day here at Solutions Bridal, I had an appointment scheduled for noon and was excited to help her find her wedding gown. Meghann walked in our front door, and following her....was a boy. Now, to anyone not in the bridal gown business this is an absolutely normal occurrence, but for us, it's quite strange. Boys just don't come in to bridal salons unless they're the fathers, the groom (a rarity) or gay best friends. She immediately let me know that he was not the groom, and he was obviously not the father....so I had only one possibility left. I sat down with both of them, learned everything about Meghann's wedding and then we began her gown search. After a few, she fell in love with one of my favorite gowns in our store, and wanted to think about it over lunch so they left the store and I immediately said to all the girls "the groomsman was cute, wasn't he?" At that point I thought nothing of it, and certainly didn't expect what happened later on...
After they've eaten lunch and discussed it, they come back so that she can try the gown on again for one final look. While I'm getting her dressing room ready for her, Tony (the groomsman) sneaks up to the front desk and proceeds to tell the girls that he thinks I'm really cute and that he's trying to flirt with me but he's "a big dumb boy", yes he actually used those words :), and he didn't know if I was picking it up, then asked if I was seeing anyone. Amy and Katie quickly, a little too quickly if you ask me ;), assured him that I was most definitely not seeing anyone. He comes back to the appointment and I go up to the front desk to pull a color swatch and Amy lets me know what just happened...I believe her exact words were "I don't want you to be alarmed, but that groomsman just asked about you." Right Amy, I won't get alarmed at all....this cute boy is asking about me and I now have to get through the rest of the appointment without making it obvious that I know...no problem! Meghann loves her gown and had to wait around for parent approval, so the girls tried to get me to give Tony my phone number...and that's just not my style, so alas, they left with no number, but a gorgeous gown!
Days passed and naturally I told everyone here about it, they helped me decide to e-mail Meghann and pass along my number. Quite the bold move for me, I don't even buy a bag without thinking about it for a week or two and visiting it multiple times before making the big decision. Eventually he got a call from Meghann with my number and we began talking for hours on end, with such great things in common.
We've been dating for almost 3 months, and although that sounds like a short amount of time, there's no question in either of our minds that this is something big :)
